Why I’m Saying No More Often This Summer

For a long time, I felt like saying “yes” was the noble thing to do.

Yes to the invites.
Yes to the favors.
Yes to the last-minute plans.
Yes to the good things that still somehow pulled me away from the best things.

But here’s the truth: every yes is also a no.

When I say yes to one more obligation I don’t really have space for, I’m saying no to rest. No to time with my family. No to progress toward my goals. No to peace.

So this summer, I’m being intentional. I’m saying no more freely—not out of guilt or avoidance, but with purpose. Because the more intentional I am with my no, the more powerful my yes becomes.

Yes to slow mornings and summer adventures with my kids.
Yes to the creative work that lights me up.
Yes to conversations that matter and moments that feel like home.
Yes to the life I’m building on purpose—not by default.

I want my yes to feel aligned with who I am, who I’m becoming, and how I want to feel every day. Peaceful. Connected. Energized. Free.

So if you hear me say no this summer, know it’s because I’m making space to say a full, wholehearted yes to what truly matters most.

What are you saying no to this summer so your yes can mean more? I’d love to hear—share with me in the comments or send me a message.
